Keynote: Ryan Wyatt

From being a competitive gamer before there was a huge audience for it, to evangelizing live video before the games industry understood what it could deliver, to leading the YouTube initiative for gaming content, Ryan Wyatt has lived and shaped the cutting edge of this invigorating gaming movement. His keynote address details that evolution and outlines what marketers need to know about where and how influence is being shaped.

Understanding where we came from is important, but the conversation between marketers and gamers is entrenched in what is happening tomorrow. Previously VP of Programming at Major League Gaming and Head of Live and eSports at Machinima, and currently Gamer-in-Chief at YouTube, Ryan “Fwiz” Wyatt has demonstrated thought leadership in this exciting, fast-moving space. In addition, as a prominent eSports personality, Ryan is known for his strategic contributions in growing this key scene.

As all marketers now realize games can thrive if powered by effective communication from outlets that recognize and relate to the target audience. Fwiz illustrates the next steps in improving those messages, highlighting methods that appeal to potential customers, and defining the differences between current communication realities versus traditional practices.

You know that video is the way to reach your target audience so this landmark keynote will set the conversation bar for all your teams to identify the most efficient and effective solutions to your marketing and communication needs.

Meanwhile, studios, traditional sports teams, celebrities and entrepreneurs are bringing top dollars to the space as new investors, forever altering the landscape. Leagues, team owners and personalities driving the industry will break down how these audiences are consuming their content, the role of influencers, how investment money will shape the future of gaming and why marketing will be changed as a result.

Fandom: Fans Love You, Love 'Em Back

Presenters from powerhouse companies like Blizzard and Fandom powered by Wikia and FX Networks tackle the next installment in understanding the nature of fandom and how it can be engaged to push new opportunities for franchises. Grabbing and maintaining the attention of an enthusiastic fan base has long been established as a crucial aspect of supporting committed communities. Now the question turns to how early-stage fans should be addressed and supported to ensure they push their influence and thought leadership with a growing audience hanging on their every opinion.

If you think you know your fans, what they want, and how to maximize their positive impacts on your brand you need to hear about the next range of challenges you’ll face and be prodded into further thought about what positions these major players are taking to be best positioned for success.

Multi-Platform: New Challenges, New Solutions

In a world where multiple device usage is no longer the exception but the rule, the time has come for a new multi-platform approach. Once upon a time brand managers shaped their messages around what they knew about customers on their platform of choice. That is clearly no longer the case as brands cross multiple console and mobile platforms, chasing consumers who are engaging with these brands wherever they choose to be. As a result, attitudes have shifted from console or mobile to console, mobile and beyond! That alone requires new thinking on how to approach digital media measurement, planning, evaluation, and optimization.

Multiple options for the consumer also mean multiple options to engage in conversations for the marketer. Of course, understanding there are differences means evolving how advertising, conversations, and community connect to the audience in all these spaces. This big question covering vital shifts driven by technology and evolving audiences gets the deep dive to explore the best ideas and most effective tactics.

Moderator:
Rob Smith, Consultant, Robert Smith UTB Consulting

Insight Driven Marketing: How Data Drives Creative

Every game publisher is tapping into the vast quantity (and improving quality) of data that explain why games are played, why they stop being played, and can inform the creative process to optimize all those details. It's a wonderful balance that may once have been considered incongruous but is now vital. For brand marketers hitting the right notes of using the data to help shape the message of the creative is an emerging challenge.

Tom Gilmartin, Creative Shop Lead at Facebook and Aaron LeMay Chief Creative Officer at White Rhino Capital provide keen insight into what Big Data is and how it's mined to be actionable for the Creative Set. From how data is used today he dives into the ongoing potential to use these tools to increase engagement and empower creative teams to craft conversations that have long-lasting appeal. When the nature of the data being used is understood it can help shape the digital marketing campaigns, providing expertly crafted engagements with the audience.

Exploring how the developer, marketer, community, and publisher can all effectively use data will help drive innovation and inspiration and make this key issue a continuous talking point.

The Summit Slam: Quick Wit…Cool Sh*t!

Experience a ‘curational’ experience like no other! A Pecha Kucha style delivery, where presenters are given 6 minutes and 40 seconds of fame, 20 slides and a chance to present cool, inspiring or thought provoking images, with only 20 seconds to deliver the message. It means it’s fast and involves quick-thinking, and—quite often—quick wit when it doesn’t go exactly as planned. And that’s the beauty of the slam—presenters rolling with their ideas as they reveal what has stood out to them in the past year. It could be a cool ad, a cool app, an emerging technology or an out of the box gadget that needs fast explanation and prep to surprise and delight…whatever they consider the coolest of the cool sh*t they have come across in the past year.

Informative, insightful, and quite likely hilarious you’re never sure what you’ll get when the presenters are under a time crunch. But our guess is it may involve cat memes and/or cute kids somewhere along the way. A fun session not to be missed.

Carson, Head of Games, Buddha Jones
Candace Brenner, VP, Marketing, J!NX
