A new promo for Atlanta, created, executive produced and starring Donald Glover (Community) uses a split screen to present different perspectives of the same scene, as well as juxtaposing scenes that showcase the tone of the show, if not the storyline.
The series revolves around two cousins making their way up through the Atlanta rap scene, whose opposing views on art, commerce, success and race make their quest anything but easy.
Marketing for the show has been eclectic and offbeat, like promos featuring backward walking, and 15-second vignettes that offer a peek into the lives of the characters on the show.
This latest trailer follows that same formula—if you can call it that—showing brief scenes from two different perspectives on a split screen, or using one screen to explain, elaborate or further move forward the action happening on the other.
Atlanta premieres September 6 on FX.
