NBC Sets Summer Schedule

by Devon Thomas  |  03.17.2017

NBC unveiled its summer schedule on Friday including the new Jennifer Lopez-helmed dance competition World of Dance, America’s Got Talent and SNL: Weekend Update.

World of Dance, the new dance series will feature Jennifer Lopez, NE-YO and Derek Hough as judges with Jenna Dewan Tatum set as host/mentor. Lopez will also serve as executive producer of the show and will premiere Monday, May 8 at 10 p.m. ET, with The Voice as its lead-in.

America’s Got Talent returns with new host Tyra Banks, with a two-hour premiere Tuesday, May 30 at 8 p.m. ET, the show back for its 12th season with creator and judge Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.

The Carmichael Show, inspired by the life of comedian Jerrod Carmichael premieres Wednesday, May 31 at 9 p.m. ET. The series follows Jerrod and his opinionated North Carolina family as they navigate topics that all families face in America today. Jerrod often finds himself debating such issues with his old-school father, Joe (David Alan Grier); his devoutly religious mother, Cynthia (Loretta Devine); his fiancee, Maxine (Amber Stevens West); his social media-obsessed brother, Bobby (Lil Rel Howery); and Bobby’s opinionated almost-ex-wife, Nekeisha (Tiffany Haddish).

The network’s obstacle course show American Ninja Warrior also returns Monday, June 12.

Other programs featured this summer include Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, Little Big Shots: Forever Young, The Wall, The Night Shift, Midnight, Texas, Hollywood Game Night and Marlon.
