‘Black Mirror’ Returns with New Reflections on Society

by Cate Lecuyer  |  10.12.2016

Netflix released an official trailer and two featurettes that delve into the first two episodes of season three on Black Mirror.

Set in the not-so-distant future, the Peabody Award-winning series by Charlie Brooker explores the often dark ways in which technology has transformed all aspects of our lives, reflecting our 21st Century existence back at society through every plasma screen, monitor or smartphone.

Set to launch on October 21, season two includes six new stories, each set in a different reality.

A featurette on the episode “Nosedive” highlights society’s current obsession with acceptance and the image of ourselves we like to portray and project to others.

A second featurette focuses on episode “Playtest,” described as a is a video-game inspired “techno horror romp.”

“I wanted to do one that was deliciously dark, and also had elements of fun to it,” Brooker said.
